RIP Steve Jobs
I want to take the time to write about how important it is to be yourself and not let anyone get you down. I’m getting choked up writing this since we’ve lost such an important icon.
Of course, I never knew Mr. Jobs personally. Those who did were very very lucky. However, all I know is that he has definitely revolutionized the world for all the creatives out there.
Now think about what life would be like without Apple…How would artists like us get our name out there so efficiently if it wasn’t for the internet? What would happen if we didn’t have software like the Adobe suite, FinalCut, GarageBand, ComicLife, etc. The Mac computers were invented to run this software to its most powerful degree, making it easier for artists and those who aren’t the greatest with computers create masterpieces to levels we couldn’t even imagine. All of this software has opened our minds to create such diversity to the arts.
If it wasn’t for having a Mac, I wouldn’t have been as good with Photoshop and Illustrator as I am now. I wouldn’t have as many jobs if it wasn’t for the Adobe Suite. If it wasn’t for a Mac, I wouldn’t have learned the process for film editing. If it wasn’t for a Mac, I wouldn’t have learned how to create a comic. If it wasn’t for a Mac, I’d probably never get to see my friend’s faces when they’re on the other side of the country (iChat). The creation of the internet has made our friends and family closer, even though they’re not physically there with us. It creates the illusion that they are though.
The iPod is definitely one of the most brilliant inventions, being such a music geek myself. If it wasn’t for my iPod and iTunes, I actually don’t know what I’d do with myself. I wouldn’t have such a broad taste in music. My iTunes library is basically my life. I’ve developed such a closer connection to music because of iTunes. I could never imagine years ago having 20,000+ songs on my iTunes…now I do thanks to the iTunes store/sharing with families and friends. The iPod has definitely helped us during our study breaks, the grueling hours of commuting whether it’s via plane/train/car, enhancing our workouts and walks, or just wanting to show off a cool song by sharing the signature Apple earbuds with our friends/family.
Also, being an avid film lover, the fact we could access any film we want at the tip of our fingertips is something so revolutionary. I would never have imagined just watching movies and TV shows on my computer. The more access I have to film, the closer I am to pursuing my goal to going into film. The more observing I do, the better I will become. Thank you, iTunes rentals!
Lastly, what would have happened if Steve Jobs never discovered Pixar? Pixar-the biggest modern Animation household name. Can you imagine what your childhood would be like without growing up with Toy Story and all your favorite Pixar films? The brilliant minds behind Pixar wouldn’t have been so successful if it wasn’t for this discovery. Now, Pixar is dominating the animation industry and it’s definitely the Animation house that most of us artists strive to work at one day.
If you live life with Steve Jobs’ mentality just chasing your dreams, you too can revolutionize the world. So, get busy living people! The world keeps changing every day, and we all can be the next revolutionaries like Mr. Jobs himself.
Written on my Macbook Pro.
